Objective 5.1: Develop a network among African American owned businesses to increase connectedness, capacity and opportunity

• Convene a core group of African American  business owners
• Develop a strategy to identify and engage a broader group of African American  business owners    
• Support ongoing interaction between and among African American  businesses
• Utilization of mapping platform to create a searchable database where African American  business owners can register/ share information
• Explore the presence of diversity in the Baton Rouge Area Chamber

Performance Indicators

• Number of African American business owners identified and convened
• Number of African American business owners continuing participation
• Number of new attendees in response to selected and implemented new strategies

Objective 5.2:  Establish an awareness and spending campaign to raise investment in these African American  owned businesses

• Secure needed resources to execute the campaign
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign

• Number of African American  male business owners  identified and convened
• Number of African American  male business owners  continuing participation
• Finalization of a plan of action within 6 months of first meetings

Objective 5.3:   Develop a plan to increase home ownership, life insurance coverage, and financial literacy among African American  males

• Identify greatest opportunities for expansion
• Create a plan that capitalizes on greatest opportunities
