These naming conventions are used frequently for developing short labels, variable names, and column headings for variables and calculations.

General

PCT - percent

AMT - amount

NUM - number

or

CNT - count

Types of Calculations

TOT - total

AVG - average

STD - standard deviation

MED - median

MIN - minimum

MAX - maximum

Financial Variables

CONT or CONTRIB - Contributions or public support (gov't and private in Core files)

EXP - expenses

INC - income

REV - revenue

ASST or ASS - assets

LIAB or LIA - liabilities

GR - Gross

EOY - End-of-year

BOY - Beginning-of-year

FY - Fiscal year

AGI - Adjusted gross income

Other Variables

ST - Start (STYEAR = starting year for fiscal period)

- State

CNTY - County

CTY - City

P - Part of form (P4ASST = Assets from Form 990, Part 4)
