The 4th document summarizes trends in the creation of new organizations.

The number of new organizations increased modestly over the past 12 years, but the growth rate in new organization formation actually decreased since 2000 to a modest 1.5% per year -- albeit from a high base. (As of Sept. 2007, for example, there were 1,029,432 tax exempt organizations registered. The addition of 91,742 represents a 8.9% increase. However, this does not include any reduction for organizations that died or merged.
